Cornwall Pure Business started 2007 with an I'd Rather Be in Cornwall Club, held at the Groucho Club, focusing on a time for New Year's resolutions. Leading businessman, Sir John Banham, Chairman of Johnson Matthey Plc and a champion of growth in new business in the rural economy, gave a lively speech on Cornwall's economy and the prospects available to businesses.
Speaking to a cross section of businesses looking to relocate, as well as support agencies and Cornish based businesses, Sir John talked about how Cornwall has changed significantly over the past decade. Sir John remarked how in the past only limited business opportunities existed in the county. But now, with the advent of IT, Combined Universities of Cornwall, and improved communications infrastructure to name a few, the county is open for business. As a result, Cornwall has seen a significant increase in businesses moving to the county, as they seek a work life balance.
Sir John stayed at the event to talk to guests, understand their business needs and allay any concerns with regards to relocation.
