I'D RATHER BE IN CORNWALL CLUB

Creative sector focus / Miranda Bird 28/06/2006

This June event was held at the Groucho club in Soho and had over 70 people attending.

As usual the event was aimed at a niche market within the Creative Sector, this time linking with Cornwall Film Fund, which was in the capital showcasing “The Cream of Cornish Film Making” at Channel 4. This resulted in a good number of attendees from the media industry, as well as the usual IT and creative industries, some of whom were interested in relocating their business to Cornwall and some looking for networking opportunities.

Those who were thinking of relocating were able to discuss opportunities with Cornwall representatives including Cornwall Pure Business, Cornwall Enterprise (including the Managing Director), Cornwall County Council and CUC Business Fellows. Advice and knowledge was shared on many of the details that need to be taken into account when considering such a step, including funding routes, property and business networks.

There was a short talk by Miranda Bird from Cornwall Arts Marketing about creating a Region of Culture and the benefits of living and working in Cornwall.
